digital tv signal problem

I live in a flat that has the aerial on the roof pointing the wrong way for digital tv, ie freeview.

i borrowed my mates pace freeview box and all i can pick up are the bbc channels. nothing else at all.

i doubt i will be able to get my letting agency to turn the aerial around to face the right way... are there any gadgets to boost the signal i can use in my lounge?

i don't particuarly want to fork out for sky tbh.

any ideas?

I got my parents a "One-For-All" indoor digital aerial. Works a treat! :) £30 or so in dixons. Get all the freeview channels on it.

that sounds like the ticket darthcake^^^ dart - did they have really poor signal before the one for all indoor aerial and once set up it fixed it?

i don't think i will be able to get a dish put on the block of flats, but i think it is able to accept sky tv. shame their box is so much money!

Had the same problem in an old rented flat I was in. Daft as it sounds I used about 2 metres of speaker cable up the wall and looped behind a picture. Worked amazingly well.

lol i see. :)

i reckon i will be heading out tomorrow to buy a digital aerial then! as i know of people that live like on the otherside of the town i live in and can get loads of channels because their aerial is facing another way.

hopefully buying a digital aerial will sort the problem!

Ask the guy in the shop - if it doesn't work can you bring it back. That way your quids in either way. You get TV or your money back :)

yeah for sure^^^^

hopefull my local electrical store in the high street are a bit more chilled out than before. they wouldn't let me return a freeview box if it didn't pick up a signal!!

I have one of those one for all thingers. Works a treat most of the time. Sometimes has trouble picking up multiplex 2 (I think it's multiplex 2), which includes 5 (and the music channels I believe), but I live in a bad area for reception. I'm sure you can find it cheaper than £30 though. I got mine for £15 from Costco, but I'm sure other retailers have it within this price range too.

EDIT: I do get a bad reception if it's mad windy!

i thought i'd go for a more expensive one as it might be better? i found one for a tenner, but i want a decent one as i only get the bbc channels :( so i guess i have s**t signal aswell.

In my view the BBC multiplex is usually the best anyway. It's often true that you get what you pay for, but in the freeview world it's not always the case. When I asked the guy in curry's the difference between two freeview boxes with about £50 price difference he replied "just the price". Try find a UK digi TV forum, they might be able to advise best.
