Dilema

well i have a dilema

after taking Gti Girls (Clares) Williams 2 for a spin i have come to the conclution that Im bored with my valver !!

not in term of lookk and handerling coz i have spent a lot of time and money to make it a minter !!

but in speed !!!!! jelouse of GTI Girl really

now here are the options

A. go for a highly tunned 2.0 l 16vengine swap

B. go for a BB Turbo conversion ! now the only problem is i have a boot install and have no where for the battery to go ! with out loosing the back seats and getting the boot shuffled about and perhaps a roll cage

What should i do ?

Is it really worth spending £7000 on a turbo?

Highly tuned 2.0 out the 2 choices, why not a highly tuned GTT conversion? Just an idea

GO Normally Aspirated. You should have no real problems with reliability. Something, good about a nice turned NA engine!!

defo go with 2l, reliabilty is not an issue and you may even get away with not informing the ol insurance company.................group 18 car for group 12 insurance anyone?:D

LOL your driveway must look quality!! ;)

I am keeping an eye out for a 2.0l lump - mainly for its insurance friendlyness! Although if i had the cash (or won the lotto!) id cream my pants over a turbo conversion!!

mmm ! my drive !!

1 x naples red 16v

1 x willy2

1 x 2 seater kit car

1 x almera gti

and 1 x micra !!!

Clutered !!!!!!!

well just spoke to some one who knows and if i went for the 2.0 l in terms of improvement for money spent i would not see a high increse of power

so basicly 3-4k on a tuned 2.0 l gfives about an extra 25 bhp

or 4 - 8 on a turbo for an extra 80 - 130 bhp

so i9 got an insurance quote for a turbo conversion

and got £1450 F/C quoted

John

As you know i have spent less than 2k on my conversion and have gained 24 bhp and i aint fitted my de cat yet !!

To be honest with ya i wouldnt spend £7k on a turbo !! I would put that money and the sale of your minter, into something that would do 200 bhp as standard !! Than tune the fecker !!

JUST MY OWN OPINION !!

Or you could fit T/BS AND SPEND ABOUT £4K AND SEE THE SAME POWER AS A TURBO.

I CANT WAIT FOR THE TURBO/ T/BS SHOWDOWN THIS YEAR !!

Turbo would be the nuts, but for reliability I would say go NA. Plus, it would probably run a bit cooler, bearing in mind how small the bay is and how hot the turbo gets...

(and I knew it wouldnt be long before night.icon posted something along these lines! ;) )

well the plan is a 2.0 l willy lump head cams polished ported T/B stainless manifold to match the full system i have should be good for about

200 + BHP

any advise ? or criticism ?

yuk!! but a 16v T is gonna be sooooooooooooooo much better then a Gtt conv

(sorry no disrespect)

I agree with tom on the R5 turbo conversion

the idea of a turbo is appealing but it would involve a lot of additional work for me

Im a fan of natural aspiration. Ive owned a bunch of turbos from 930s to the EVO VI TM and I still go for natrually aspirated for throttle response and simplicity.

And no matter what the developers say, an aftermarket trubo conversion isnt up there with the highly engineered factory or WRC offerings.

the reason clare has got a better car than me is be coz she wanted a 16v but i wanted her to have a car that is worth restoring as she is not really into modding !!

any way to the important thing!!

so if i go go down the N/A route i will probably go fo a willy 2.0l head cams ect and T/B but what sort of power will i get will it be fecking fast

or the turbo route and get the BB all singing and dancing conversion which will mean loosing the back seats for the battery to be relocated due to the boot install in the which can be re fitted in a different way

i know what a turbo will cost me but what would T/B do to my insurance

Im so confused !

Clares may be a willy but i personally prefer yours. I love the naples red (best colour valver by far) I also prefer nicly modded cars and yours looks nice where as the willys are best left standard.

kev let me take u for a spin in the williams and u might understand why i wanted her to go for it ! any way she can do engine mods

yeah. I am looking for a willy lump to have put in mine but i prefer to looks of a mildly modded valver (like yours and mine) to a willy apart from the power. So get the willy engine in yours and you will be well away.

can get a standard willy lump on a m plate with 50k supplied & fitted for £1500+vat

add cams etc and T/B comes out at 5-6k

I just need to scource a lump. I aint really looking at the moment as i am at uni. The search will start end of summer.

Once i got a willy lump i can get it dropped in for £350.

How much is a average willy lump on its own with starter etc?
