Display & steering controls (Sony)

I have just had my new Sony HU fitted to the car and was hoping (well presuming) there was an adaptor available to use the head up display and the steering controls. The guys tried every single Sony adaptor they had for the Clio/Sony combination and none would work 100%. I could have controls with some and display with others but not both with any
Anyhow he rang his supplier and there was apparently a change in Renault specs around 2005, meaning that my Clio (05/2005) isn't compatible with any adaptors on the market...yet! Is this true? Surely people on here have fitted aftermarket HU's to a 2005+ Clio and retained OE features?

Please help :S

IIRC there was this problem with alpine/pioneer also.

I know Lee and a few others were hunting around for the new adaptors.

I think Alpine & Pioneer have released them, (sorry i meant connects2 range have released...) the adaptors for them.

Try searching on the forum (if you can ;) ) there was a thread or two regarding this.

ok, cheers mate. Bloody Renault! Why bother changing the specs in the last 18 months of the range!

Mine is an April 05 V6 so presumably would mine also fall under the same category of needing this elusive, new style of connector?

Well after a huge amount of research (caraudiodirect were f'ing useless) i ended up calling the distributor and have had it confirmed that an updated version (BUS) is available from InCarTec for 2005> models, utilising the existing yellow ISO connector (therefore eliminating the need to remove the dashboard).
The problem is they are wait for it...£110! (plus the adapter for make specific headunits).... I believe another manufacturer makes adapters and will report back once I get manage to find out

Yeah I had heard that one was in development at £140 without the headunit specific adaptor!

deadonkey

I could only get one for the controls and was told by Autoleads that its not possible with their current range to use the display with a sony headunit.

Is there wires going to the radio part of the display or is it infra red or some space age transmission technique to force you to buy Renaults crappy head units?
May sound daft but why is it so hard to get a lead for the display?

It is possible with the older (pre 2005) Clio's and a Sony unit. The problem seems to be that none of the leads are compatible with the newer (2005+) Clio's for whatever reason. I have no idea of the reason but I watched my fittter try atleast 3/4 different leads that were all for Sony/Clio combinations and none of them would work.
If I knew what had changed I could easily get round it I'm sure. What I really need is the dash display/stalk control wiring diagrams for the 2 different Clios.

i'm in the same boat mate. have asked on here before too. i have a JVC unit and the guy tried a few leads with that. what i dont understand is why renault would change it! the old one has a small yellow connector at the back of the display whereas the new ones (>2005) have a long single pin black one. i think its a different (iirc can-bus) config?!
bugger paying £100 odd quid. :(:(

nice one. i have been trying. i thought about changing the display and maybe even the stalk to an 04 version?! i emailed autoleads a while back and they said its in development but nothing has come as yet, will probably be expensive too....! we should have bought older 182's lol
