DIY fitting alarm system..

Anyone every fitted an alarm system to their car themselves?...

how easy to fit them is it?? and how effective are they??

ive only helped fitting an after market alarm to a ford escort and all i can say is i hope you have wiring skills as its not straight forward make sure you research as much as possible and make sure the kit has a wiring guide for a clio

just make sure when you are doing it to solder every wire and heat shrinking it and getting it as smart looking and as hidden as possible and check every step you make over as an alarm is only as good as its installed

Easy enough imo, but as said its not an idiotproof straightforward process and the effort you put in is very proportional to the result you get out.

I have to admit that my wiring skills r not really up to scratch, so i'll guess i'll give it a miss!

Just out of curiosity how much are alarm systems fitted professionally? half a grand?

about 250-500 inc the alarm

I used Barry at safe n sound a few years back, toad system all in for £200, he came to my work and fitted it in the car park.
