Do i need a resistor for a 172 ph1

Car  Clio 182
fitting an aftermarket steering wheel over the weekend but do i need a resistor and if i do whats the purpose of this.
 
You need one.

4 ohms should be fine.

You need it else the system knows its missing and sets the warning light off which is annoying.
