the gap should be 1mm max

that looks too big IMO

NGK PFR6E-10 is what you need

hi
can someone tell me if the gap should be 1mm. and can i alter the gap on those spark plugs?

i think i am going to clean these up till i can afford to change them. any tips?

The electrodes on those plugs look dead, you can try altering the gap but tbh you're in definite need of new spark plugs asap. You won't be getting a good spark from those even with the right gap.

Cheapest Place to get these from?

My car is in serious need of some New Spark Plugs but I just keep forgetting about it

Eggy, have a look in your manual at the service schedule, I think it says in there what's done and when. TBH tho changing every year is fairly good practice for relatively cheap parts like spark plugs, at least you know they're right and you can keep a good monitor of how your engine is running by taking a look at their condition regularly too.

Yep.... I'm on a Night Shift Tonight so will get home stay up and wait for the Post Office to open and then go to bed... I've just looked through some of my old bits and pieces and realised I actually removed some of those NGK PFR6E - 10 Spark Plugs when I 1st bought the car on 12,000 Miles so you could Buy them off me for cheap if you want? PM me if your interested!

Just had a look at mine, they look just like yours simon :dapprove: , f**k me what a b*****d they are to get too, the old 1.2 8v took less than 15 mins to remove the lot.. the 172 on the other hand...

How much would these plugs set me back at halfords? since there £30 from ebay from the set i i'd be willing to pay more to get it sorted by the weekend

I thought these are ment to be good for 75,000 miles? :S

Heres the pics of mine
