Do new brake calipers just fit to the existing caliper mounts?

  Not a 320d
As title really, my brakes are pretty poor, so id like to replace them.

Id like to know if new calipers, such as Brembo or Wilwood, fit onto the existing mounts. Obviously my brakes will be different to that of a renaultsports, but with a 172 as an example, would a new caliper fit onto the existing mounts?

Entirely depends on the kit you intend to purchase. Sometimes you'd have to fabricate your own bracket, or it will be supplied with the kit. But I doubt any manufacturers have designed uprated calipers for the GT. I'd just go for an uprated pad/disk combo.

Are all discs the same so to speak, i mean i guess mine are 259mm although i wouldnt be certain. but are they all the same fitting?

Also, braided brake lines, are they also universal?

Different materials and sizes on each model and depends on the manufacturer. Some cars like the VW/Audi stable have interchangeble discs, pads calipers etc. so it's easy to do upgrades and keep the OE look. For instance my Fabia has Audi TT 312mm discs and pads and Octavia calipers. Not to sure about the Renualt parts bin and how interchangable they are yet as I only just joined the Clio forum.
Yer braided pipes are not hard to find, again different lengths and fittings.
