Dodgy rear seats?

  BMW E46 330i Touring
Just put my rear seats forward to get a load of junk in the back of the car, and the bottom part of the seat just came away in my hands: the 'clips' don't seem to actually hold it in.

Is this meant to happen!?! It appears that it doesn't want me to put them back to normal and, in fact, I should just remove them completely...

Yep they do that there help in place by the top clip the bototm ones just to hold in in place the top holds itstops it from slipping out.

Are these clips safe?

I really had to shove the seats to get them to go back properly and there was some evidence of electrical tape around the clip. Presumable from the previous owner. I have a 182 FF on a 05 plate and the build quality is quite frankly 'jank' compared to our Audi.

I am worried as sometimes I carry a precious cargo, my drums and do not want them being smashed. Oh I also carry my 5 year old son.

Cheers,

Tom

Any more thoughts on my above problem.?

I have now decided to book the car into the dealers under warranty regarding this problem. I cannot get the single seat side of the rear bench to clip in to the connecting bracket. IThere was electrical tape wrapped around the bracket, however I pulled this off and it now will not clip in, you can just pull the back of it forward. Imagine that in a crash considering they are not attcahed to the base (as discussed above)

TBH it is fecking dangerous , and I now have no faith in either side. The double section takes a couple of very hard pushes to get clipped in properly also.

Am I the only one with this problem?

I am sure it must have been discussed?

Was there a recall from renault?

Thanks in advance for your help

They all do it mate, Your dealer will just say it is normal but you do have a problem with it not clipping in. it comes out the top when you fold it so if you have it upright it wont move up the only way it will move is back and fourth and it shouldnt in any means do the so when the seat is up proberly you have no issue about it coming out

  ph1 172... Sold:(
I was more worried about the fact that when you fold the seats you cant avoid mashing them up on the seat belt buckles. Everytime I go fishing my rear seats are getting more creased and scored.

Tbh I thought it was the seat belts that restrain you, if you have a good look at how it all goes together there's no chance of it coming out unless it's actually faulty imo...
