Does anybody know what this cover/protector was for?

Bought this off a market for next-to-nothing, new, and wanted a cheap bodywork protector, but not sure what it is would be used for as the shape is strange to me, has the light magnetic padded lining like a wing protector has and decent quality.

Just a generic cover that mechanics put over wings when working in the engine bay.

Car need metal wings for the this though, and as it's Snap-On it'll be American based so their cars tend to be all steel panels.
