Does anyone else get killer torque steer from their 172+?

Only had mine since friday but noticed planting the accelerator = a lot of torque steer. Is it easy enough to remove the power steering? :clown:

How would that help with torque steer?? On any car I buy, I get a full alignment check done.

As said, shouldn't be bad. Also check the tyres are the same condition and pressures on both sides.

Alright fair enough will do. What else could I look out for? Tracking seems fine.

All tyres are fine. 2 continentals on the front and 2 eagle f1's on the back with loads of tread.

loss of power steering makes the need to fight the wheel greater as you dont get the damping effect through the hydraulics

The weather, greasy roads, cack tyres, too much of the loud pedal.

I remember taking my old mans 172 (with good tyres on it) out a while ago, I managed to light up the front tyres no bother:eek: torque steer of the line lol ! I then thought, whoops must go easier.

when i had my ph2 the first time i properly took it for a blast i nearly put in in a hedge - surprised me then , didnt the next time

I got torque steer on two occasions. First was when inside tyres were balder than the outside, and the other was when one tyre was below 30psi on one side.

I find the quality of the Road vs. the geometry of the suspension/drivetrain affects the quantity of torque steer experienced.

I (am lucky enough to) drive country roads every day to work, and find the variation of road 'quality' makes a hell of a difference in how much my Cup will jerk about. On some parts of my drive in, the road is of good quality and more importantly is flat across the whole of the carridgeway. At this point unless I'm driving like a thing possesed, the torque steer is almost negligible up to 3/4 throttle, then above - the tug on the steering can be felt. On the other hand, other parts of my journey involve minor B roads which although have just been surfaced, roll and undulate like a small mountain range. Here anything above 1/2 throttle involves a tight grip on the wheel as each bump changes the geometry of the suspension, and hence the quantity of torque steer which can be slightly annoying, but also entertaining as well!

This proportion of torque steer will also be affected, as already said, by worn bushes, ball joints, and unsymetrical situations with tyre pressures and tread wear.

I suggest having it looked at/tracked, and then grin and bear it, unless you fancy shelling out for a CLIO 172/182 QUAIFE ATB DIFFERENTIAL or similar.......yes look at the price!!!

Some driving ability? :rasp: They dont torque steer that badly at all lol, if its wet or the road is naff, try taking off the lead boots :)

I can handle it fine. I find it fun if anything. If the car torque steers it has nothing to do with someones driving ability :)

What tyres are better yoko 539's or Pzero's? I think the Pzero's are on the front...
