Does the 1.2 have a different steering rack to the 172

  Clio 182 FF
looking at picking up a Ph1 172 but having only driven a 1.2 before (mums) im worried that steering rack is the same, as imo its waaaay to slow on the 1.2.

can anyone shed any light on this for me?

TIA

not particularly easy as insurance doesn't cover me to drive other cars and the only person i know who had one has just sold it!

Having driven both I don't think there's a whole lot in it ratio-wise so you may be "disappointed" it's not like quickrack that some cars have. However, it's not the be all and end all as the throttle and suspension can compensate.

It is eletronic on the 1.2 which also seems to have positive centreing vs the traditional hydraulic setup of the Sport.

Theres far less lock on a 172 compared to a 1.2, my 225 can get round in tighter turns than the 172 could!

not fussed about turning circle tbh having driven a volvo S60 for a few weeks im sure the clio will be awesome in comparison!

Just making sure steering isnt going to be as bad as the 1.2 as i thought my cars steering was pretty bad!

I think the steering on the 1.2 is quite slow to centre if anything..low on feedback too...electric PAS for you.

I think you;ll notice a difference...will be heavier aswell with the 2.0 up top
