Was wonder in this this part came off the dash?

Yeah along with the rest of the dash (its all one piece!)

Some people manage to take that bit off once the top dash is off with it.
They kinda separate by "melting" the joints as they are actually separate pieces.

Was tempted to do it at some point to spray it, didnt bother in the end though.

ah thats well crap,
wanted to take it out so i could fabricate a monitor into it

Take the dash top off, cut the tiny plastic tabs.

Oh yeah you can take it out if you do that. Take it off but tbh fella theres no room to put a monitor in there I've tried!

NA its the space behind the vets thats the problem... well on the sprt it is. Big old bits of metal literally right behind.. if they were about 10-15mm further back it would of been possible..for now its mounted ghetto style!...

thats coming out now though as well as the pc under the seat.. going back to oem radio

YES! HAd to get rid of all the plastic behind there although I have cut it soo that I can put it back on... it sitting upstairs in a drawer.. if you want il take some pics of what was removed.... brb

Actually didnt remove as much as I thought butit was still quite a bit.. This is not in order I just threw it on the bed to take a photo. Gonna be fun putting it back in! lol

Give it a go though fella but the reason I didnt want to remove that part your on about is coz id lose the heaters. And also because it was not flat enough.

yeh that would be good.
think my new plan will be to grab one of the old stereos from the loft, strip it all out so i just have the chassis, then mount the monitor to the front of that so i can easily take it out again.
so it will slot into the gap with the panel above taken out

"Just" The monitor I have is a Xenarc 7" touchscreen and it doesnt quite fit in. I wanted to mount it inside something but it just wouldnt fit. I removed the Hazard switches and mounted them here...

As you can see my case is cracked to f**k and its held in by screws ... it was only ever a temporary thing until I could fabricate it properly but the Renault just isnt easy to do that... now if we had a corsa or a focus thats a whole different story! they are easy!

What you putting in there?? PC?

yeh putting a pc in, pc is the easy part.
so just trying to get mnitor sorted first.
you should be able to get a monitor in if you modify the frame slightly
a din is 180mm wide and a lilliput 7" touchscreen is 188mm so thats 4mm from each side which isnt imposible
