Does this headunit exist??

Now, I don't know if what I'm after is out there but I'll try.

I like my oem headunit. It has no flashy lights, looks like it should be there, and I love the satellite controls.

What I don't like is I cannot connect my mp3 player to it or play mp3 cds. I had a 6 disc changer in my 172, but I don't in the 182 and its annoying me.

So, is there a headunit that:

Looks like it could be oem, plays mp3s, has an aux in (3.5mm jack), not too flashy but obviously I don't mind a nice display, and that I can use the steering wheel controls and it still uses the display like the oem one does.

Can I do that?

They're about £120 and are great! have a line in, and a USB direct socket for flash memory etc

Has's got one in his 182, vert smart indeed... i want one.

you can get kits that will allow you to use the steering controls on an after market head unit.

As for the aux in, personally i havent seen a renault head unit that would fit with an aux in.

Heres an idea that would literally do exactly what you wanted, I did this myself on my first clio MK2Ph1 1.6 8v Si:
1) Get a renault head unit, with CD changer control cabability - yours may already do this
2) Then get the standard renault CD changer.
3) Plug it all up and you have a CD changer.
4) The lead coming from the CD changer is made up of something like 7-10 wires. 3 of these are actual audio wires. One is the -ve, One right +ve, one left +ve
5) Snip these wires and put in a little switching circuit with a 3.5mm jack aux lead in. Rig it so the switch(s) change the feed to the head unit between CD changer and the 3.5mm jack plug (mp3 player)

I hid the switches in the ash tray on my PH1, It had a flap up lid on it which kept things neat. I had the 3.5mm jack lead coming from behind the central console.
The reason i say switch(es) is because you have 3 wires to switch all at the same time. The ideal switch would be known as TPDT (triple pole, double throw), I couldnt find one so i used 3 normal switches SPDT (single pole, double throw).

The setup was perfect. The MP3 volume was about the same as my CD changer. The changer IS required to do this. If the headunit cannot "see" the changer then it won't switch the source to it. The only disadvantage was a slight gap in the MP3 audio if the changer was changing CDs

lol, I just sold my old car with a changer, that I could have taken out, so don't wanna buy another.

Buy a USB flash drive (4gb from PC World, £19.99) buy a USB connective HU (depends what you buy, but can get them for as little as £100) and jobs a gooden. Create playlists with files etc. Thats what ive done anyway.
