dogbone mount, where is it?

can you see the dogbone mount from under the car, i'm sure mine if goosed coz the car makes a nasty grounding sound in first and sometimes in second, if i jack the car up and look under will i be able to see it?

you wont have one being a 172, as it will have melted and fallen off

anyway jack the car up (secure on stands)
look under att he back of the gear box..infront of where the cat comedown through the subfame...
if you have a mrk1 172 then it will be oblong with two bolts at each end...
if you have a mrk2 then it will be a twisted bar with the two bolt at each end

hi i have the same problem on my clio cup doing my head in now with the grinding noise.

how much do u think renault would charge me to have this done labour and all?

would it be covered under warranty?

how danagerous is it? if it wasnt fixed

any help would be appreciated.

For reference, they cost about £15 in a motor factors, if you want to throw away money (heard garages charge up 70 notes) take it to a garage, if not spend 30mins or so doing it yourself, you dont need to support the engine or any of that crap, many call it a gear box mount also..

Another sign that its gone also, is when you rev the car, the gear stick pulls towards you, also engine when its in its bay moves "To much"

k-tec do an uprated one - i have one fitted - gear sticks stays pretty much still now - feel a bit more vibration from the engine through the car but a worth while addition in my opionion - makes the car feel a bit tighter

been down reno today got my car booked in.

they said they will need a technician to go out with me to see exactly wot the problem is and then see if its covered on warranty.

told them i think its a gear box mount.

they said well i cant take ur word for it but we will see whats wrong with it.
