Driveshaft differences

Is there a difference in the driveshafts between the 172 and 182's?

Yep, 182 uses a half shaft where the 172 doesn't.

Am I right in thinking that we are only limited to second hand shafts now as Reno have stopped making/refurbing?

And the 3rd party ones dont fit perfectly?

Correct although some places like Ktec still have stock

Are you referring to the driver's side? I am fairly sure my '03 172 has an intermediate shaft before the driveshaft.

When did Renault stop making shafts for these?

My 02 172 definitely has the split shaft with bearing carrier bolted to the block.
