Driveshaft problem

Hi All,
I've just changed the discs and pads on my 172 (2002) and have noticed that there is a split in the inner cv gaiter on the drivers side. I was wondering how easy it is to change this gaiter or if it can be changed?
I'd appreciate any help with this.

it can be yes, its the inner cv, it will involve taking it out the gearbox

Do you mean the outer cv joint? Right next to the wheel hub? if so you can get a split boot kit, which ive NEVER had a problem with in the past. They are very easy and very durable The inner boot...yeah laura is right, shaft will need to be pulled out and then replaced.
