Drop in 197 value

  197 cup
This is my problem took my 197 cup 08 plate with 19000 on the clock to trade it in for a impreza and to my shock and horror i was informed that the best price i could get in a trade in was 8000 SHOCKER. Any 1 else found that the 197 has droped so much in value. I paid 12000 for the car

Without sounding harsh, you need to think about it. You purchased the most expensive way, and now you're looking at moving it on in the way that guarantees you the lowest sale price?

If you sell it privately, then go and negotiate on the impreza with 8-9k in your pocket, you've got more cash for the Clio, and you're in a far stronger position to negotiate on the impreza. The way you're going about it is the most expensive way possible.

Then either suck it up and accept the loss, or keep the Clio. You're not going to get a better price.

Not really tbh, sell it privatley, although saying that if the ones already for sale are anything to go by you arent looking at much more than £9k (ish)

You can sell it privatley if the finance company agree to it and the balance is settled on the sale, suppose its just finding a buyer that will agree to it, some are wary, personally aslong as i get receipt of settlement it doesnt bother me

And the majority of private buyers aren't keen to buy a car on finance.

The fact it's been facelifted doesn't help. I'd sit on the 197 for a bit, money wise makes the most sense.

Good luck either way!

lol at these thread, "oh no the dealer has offered me less than market vale" how do you think they make money.

I was at my local renault and saw a 200 for only £12k on a 09 plate 9k mileage.

was that a cup?

I haven't looked at the prices for a while but i'd say 8k sounds alright. :S

You could try sell trade it to a specialist who might give you more. Someone like DS Cars or Allvehicles. I've traded both of my previous cars in at well above what the dealer for the next car wanted

stick with the clio, its the better car over an impreza! cheaper insurance, MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper to run! looks nicer and don't have the 'chav' status of a impreza.

Faaaaaaack! Could it have been haggled for 8k?

It was in bristol near Daniel 'san.

Tbh mate, it was already a facking steal at what it was up for £8,495 IIRC, less than 45k on.

Plenty of history, if i knew i could have sold my 182 id have been on it like a bonnet!

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
Prices of Standard 197's have been pisch for a while- I just think some owners who own standard 197's have been deluded.....

now the later models have followed suit.....

Anything without recaros or A/C - forget it- people suddenly got wise with their money-

I would give you a better trade price than that- depending on Spec ;)

Other way to check is inside the car there will be a 0-1-2-3 dial beside the cruise control switch which is for the level of the xenon for oncoming road users.

You have that in the cars without xenons as well. I thought cars with xenons didn't have the dial, as they are self levelling??

My 200 is at Renault Wigan on the forecourt for 11500 apparently! They are making a loss on that because that's less than what they bought it for from me
