Drove a Vauxhall 888 **Pics**

Drove one of these astras tday, not to sure on the engine spec, but went very well indeed certainly faster than my valver after 2nd.

Its a Vauxhall Astra 888 2.0turbo Limited Edition - about 200bhp i think

Mate just bought it this week and wants to come to santa pod with me so should be fun

not bad,bit slower than my mk1 172 ,but not much,top speed ahahah scary!

The Astra GSI is not 6.0 to 60, nowhere near it, it has a inferior p/w/r than a 172!

The 888 was a very limited edition model, I think only 100 rolled off the production line.

Nice little Hike in power I expect being that its a turbo. They seem to respond quite well to chipping!

I guess you need that spoiler... looking to the top speed, its better to know that it can corner at high speed. I prefer gay looking to going off-road into a tree :/

yeap, being a turbo car you can easily "breed" new more bhp.

I saw one of these a little while ago, it did look like a touring car, i like the astra coupes shape but it isnt sufficiently different enough, though the 888 has some neat touches. Still wouldnt get one though on the basis that all vauxhalls are crap.

Saw one of those in black the other day, I thought it looked really good. At the time I thought it was bits that the owner had put on, but looking at those pics it looked exactly the same so must have been one of those 888 jobbies.

I think its good that car companies are getting more confidence in releasing higher performance models, although not too sure about the colour coded interior.

That interior makes the Focus RS look conservative!

My mate got it for 17k and its one year old.

It has 17s OZ (not sure on the wheels) as standard, and is low as feck!

As i say i put my put down in 3rd and the thing just pulled away very nicely.

Its got anthracite-finish Super-Tourismos and 235/40/17 Michelin Pilots as standard, and yes its only available in Europa blue. Its actually a very rare car as Vauxhall only released 100 of them in the whole of the UK! Its got 192 BHP and has a 0-60 of 6.8 secs. Top speed of 155mph! Mmmmmmm... I want.

Dont believe the top speed, the wing would make it slower than a normal astra coupe top end.



If you want one, the paintwork will be in pearlescent Europa Blue. Similar shades of blue adorn the interior - and how. Theyre on the upholstery, on part of the steering wheel, and particularly on the central console, an eye-popping feature in blue squared, blue cubed or blue incandescent

maybe its dark in some lights like my dads BM? (or youre blind).

Evo measured the 0-60 of the GSI Turbo at 6.0 ... I dont know how. We had one last week .. using the vbox and plenty of rubber only managed 6.95. That was with two heavy buggers in it... so I think 6.5 is possible... I have no idea how they got 6.0 out of it.

Rich, that has to be a miss print, I have an EVo subscription and I would have remembered the test where it got 6.0. I do remember tests with the GSi included but never as pacey as that. Just looked at a new EVO and right enough it does have 6.0 printed, but it cant be right! Its only 160 p/w/r!

On the subject of sightings of black 888s. I saw it again tonight on the way home and it was definately black, but it didnt have the blue interior so I guess it must just be a normal Turbo Coupe. It did have the bigger bumpers tho, probably Irmscher accessories from the showroom. It also had similar dark coloured OZ wheels and rear spoiler, so it looked the part (except for being the wrong colour!!)
