DS2500 Will not stop squeaking !!! Help..

Hi guys, about 6 week ago's i fitted brembo HC disks, ds2500 pads and braided lines.

The brakes work really well but they will not stop squeaking and its doing my head in.

Its not squeaking when i brake though, its squealing when im just driving along like *squeak squeak squeak* etc..

Ive removed them and re greased it all, de glazed the pads, tried them with or without the anti squeal shims, im all out of ideas :( please help !!

Thanks Rob :dapprove:

Ok if i remove them the pad has room to move around a bit though is that ok ?

Edge's of backing plate meaning top and bottom of the pad ?

Also should i grease the back of the pads where the piston pushes onto ?

Cheers

Can i ask why they dont fit very well Fred ? It seems odd that they sometimes need fettling if they were designed for the clio ?

because i'll explain how all aftermarket pads are made

Ferodo, Pagid, EBC etc etc buy in a Standard OE renault pad, DRAW ROUND IT WITH A PENCIL and have the backing plates laser cut (some actually do it properly and measure it and replicate it on the PC, others don't, plus laser cutting isn't always that accurate)

Never knew that, i need to pm you though mate. Sorry for not getting back to you before you went away.

the 2 edges furthest away from each other, the 2 ends, file them down a wee bit, and put a blob of grease on them

Ok, ill remove the shim's tomorrow and do that then.

the pad's when fitted can move up and down about a mm without the shims in. is this right ? I dont understand why only one side does it :(

cheers for help

they have to be free to move, don't forget they expand when hot, you want at least 0.5-1mm clearance between the pad and carrier at both ends

Ah right, so its ok for them to move, ill sort that and file the ends down a bit tomorrow then.

Cheers for the help

Fred Help!!!

I have put the same brake set up on my ph1 172.

When driving normally the pads squeak with out breaking so i will remove the shims but it also feels like the front breaks are binding! Would removing the shims help?
