Dunstable Downs etc - early morning

I went for a little run over the Dunstable downs early this morning (no traffic = plenty of quick driving). Drove down via the CS hotspot of Leighton Buzzard then onto Cheddington to reach Ivanhoe village. I started off with Ivanhoe beacon (a local cycling hill climb course), then headed for the Whipsnade area, then onto the Downs itself. Some cracking roads to be had round that way, and if tackled early enough (05:00-06:00) then there is almost no traffic except for the odd dog walker etc.

A couple of early morning pics.

i thought it was a bit wet this morning.... but your pictures tell another story.... next time let me know where you're going... another good route is always handy to know ;)

Some Uber roads around that neck of the woods. I've been there numerous times. In fact it's quite local to me, or where I used to live at least :D

Yip always good for a boot! Whipsnade and Ivinghoe are pretty much my back garden, and like you say are great for bike riding!

Hoping we will sort out some mini meet over the downs soon for all the Bedfordshire folk, and any one else that wants to pop along!

  ?
Ive driven down these roads :)

Headed from hemel > leighton buzzard then just lost myself in country roads in the whipsnade area... you can drive quite fast too, loads of bends and never seen any police etc down there!

Me thinks gareth has a plan for that Pete.

Nice to here it.

I drive these roads every morning and afternoon on my journey to and from work, they are great fun but can be really slippy what with all the trees and there are some really fast sloping bends and straights and if you havnt driven them before then you need to have your whits about you!!

Just a quick heads up for any one thinking of going for a booot about these parts!
