dvd and i tunes.

can i sync dvds onto mt i pod just like a cd??
and how do i get i tunes to be the main programme to run dvds becasuse at the moment windows runs the dvd if that makes sense...

(if i put a dvd in to my lap top i want i tunes to open and play the dvd not windows.)
