dvd/cd head unit

ok, im after a head unit that is just like a normal cd player with one or more preouts for amps but plays dvds as well, suggestions please.

also when i get a screen for the headunit will it just plug straight into the back of the headunit and then work?

I think it was Alpine that used to do something like this, either Alpine or Pioneer but Im leabing towards Alpine, exactly as you mention was a standard head unit which the slot would take dvds, oh yeah i remember had a little fold out speaker that folder out from the front of the head unit to act as the centre speaker i think

Seen this but Im not sure about the whole way the DVD part works on it, Ive a feeling you may need another player, but im not sure.

Alpine do one without a screen that plays DVDs.

Above that model are the ones with builtin screens.

Theyre the D300 R (or R/B) and the D900 as linked to in the post above.

The D900 is old now but the screen is about 4x higher resolution than anything else available on the market.

The D300 is the same as the rest of the market and has touch screen where the D900 doesnt.

Its also about 800 cheaper!

i dont want the screen to come out of teh head unit ive a mk one and it wouldnt work i want a headunit that plays dvds and that i can connect a screen to, then i could have all the sound coming through my system and plat it through my headunit

Pete you will probably be able to answer this, what system has DVD/Sat Nav/Radio/CD? Just wanna know so that I can have an idea on the price and what i need to save. Id want to have one with a screen, i.e. like Richie Bs. (thought it best to ask you as Richie isnt on that much)
