Dyno/Custom Remap - South West

  FF Clio 182
This may have been covered before been searching a while and couldn't find a definitive answer so. I want to get my Clio 182 put on the Dyno and custom remapped. I know i could buy an RSTuner and do it myself but i would prefer to have something more tailored to my car. I know K-Tec offer this service as their performance pack 1 (If i do this i wont be needing the filter) but ideally i don't really want to drive all that way if i can avoid it. I know of a couple of Dyno's around the area just nowhere that could do i good remap, so all suggestions and constructive criticism is welcome :)

Thanks

I have personally used Paul at RS and he is worth the trip mate :)

Also I have heard great things about Mike a MWM - I have seen cars he has mapped and they seem to behave very well.

Michael Woodford Motorsport in staines.

He is on here as part of S&MWM in the traders section.

I would also happily recomend him to anyone having seen lots of his previous work, but I have to declare a "personal interest" in that he is a good friend of mine, but anyone who knows me well will tell you I wouldn't ever let that cloud my judgement in who to recommend.

Does he charge a fair price! How much would I be looking at paying? Just a ball park figure?

True..

Besides I personally cannot see the point of a custom 'live' remap if you just have basic mods.

Agreed, the RS Tuner isnt perfect but if its for a nearly standard car its close enough to be worth having at far less cost.

Yeah there is also that point. I did read up on it. I think best bet is going to be MWM and get a generic map then on Dyno or Just buy an RSTuner and get it on the Dyno at a later date

RS Tuner gets my vote for a nearly standard car, if you do something like Cams or an RS2 though, then it needs a proper map.

The RSTuner is you best bet. More because it can be used to read fault codes and do lots of other diag bits and bobs.

Its saved me a fortune so far considering the amount of times ive plugged the car in to check for fault codes etc.

You will never notice a massive difference from a remap on these cars anyway, unless major work is done like, Chip said above ^^^

Yeah makes sense I suppose. All I was really after from a remap was to make it more "Drivable", if you know what I mean. Try to smooth out the power output, that sort of thing.

RS Tuner does that very well IME.
Ive done it for a couple of forum members on here recently (binny and mosley) and they both love how it drives now.

Might have to buy one. Or is it possible to use an unlocked one from somebody else ?

Yes very possible, in fact ive done it for a few members here local to me now (the ones I mentioned were the only 182 but people like James with his 172 as well) all with the same RS Tuner, they have just had to pay for the map and license in order for it to work.

Oh fair enough might see if I can get a second hand one off the for sale section and get it unlocked with the map.

Its about 80 quid ish (depending on exchange rate) for the unlock and map.

If you are free any time next week (Sun 20th- Fri 26th) I can do it for you if you want but it would involve a trip to Taunton in somerset for you.

Takes under an hour, ive got the week off to pack up stuff at my parents place before a house move they are doing and all my gear is around there anyway so would be easy to fit you in.

Little bit to far. Take into considering the price and fuel, might as well pay the extra and buy one. Thanks for the offer tho.
