Easy Question - Which i dont know the answer too

some noise coming from passenger side so going to take wheel off to have a nosey...

problem is when i had new tyres on the guy put the nuts on with an air gun and i cant get them off for the life of me. tried jumping on wrench and everything - how can i get it off?

its alright saying take it to tyre place - but what am i supposed to do in future when i want to get it off at side of road?

Get a big long bar on them all loosen them all off and then torque them up properly bay hand.

try Extending/adding to your wrench to give you more leverage

they normally do them up to 100NM and your right, No1 is able to acheieve that amount of torque with renault tools at the side of the road.

You need a socket (19mm iirc?) and a socket wrench and a long metal tube to slot over it to gain leverage. Or if your feeling a little flusher, go for a real breaker bar. Make sure you are buying 1/2inch drive sockets if your going to be using that much leverage.

BTW, it's most likely your wheel bearing that's gone if the wine is related to vehicle speed.

yeh i think it is the bearing ( wineing when turning corners ) but still gonna clean under the arches and that (if i ever get it off)... why do they tighten them so much? i would have had to phone RAC out if id of broke down.

is tightening them buy hand sufficient enough?

i not got a torque wrench or anythin though - and i wont be able to get it off if i get a flat tyer either if i do that

I can easily overtighten wheel nuts by hand - they are not done up anywhere as much as you think!

TBH if they have been done up that tight, you should probably buy some more bolts, as its very dangerous to tighten them tight as it weakens ad stretches the bolts, this can cause them to sheer or snap and that will bring even more expense!

I have a torque wrench which is like a breaker bar and i can easily do them up! you dont need air tools! Reanult dont state they should be that overlly tight!

Just with my spider or wrench yes. Never bother with those silly things that come with the car.

Always do them with my torque wrench now, trust me the 100NM they are meant to be is much less than you would do with a good turn of a wheel brace. If you are doing up wheel nuts by hand chances are you are doing them to tight.

Doesn't surprise me some t**t did up them up with a windy gun on my clio, wheel wrench + me and my brother bouncing up and down on a scaffold bar for 5 minutes and it eventually loosened.

after snapping 4wheels bolts by using a extendable wheel brace, if just upgrded to a 1/2" Torque Wrench, so from now on i should be snaped bolts free
