Are ecu faults common on clio's?

On the the 1.2 Yep. but there are enought other issues which can be blamed on the ECU like wiring looms issues with the metal bracket wearing the looms and causing shorts etc.

Had this on mine, its easily sorted, take the cover off the ECU and then wrap the wires in insulation tape, then put a piece of metal beercan in (or plastic) and then finish neat with more insulating tape! itll never wear through that!! and sorts the problem quickly! i recommend you do it anyway as it is bound to wear eventualy! i did mine and my friends and there sorted now!! new wiring loom is a fortune!!
