Eeek, BIG bang... advice please.

So I just went out and got the car filled up. As I went to pull away from a junction on my way back there was a huge bang. The car felt like it stalled as it didn't move and juddered like it had but the engine was still running... The bang was so loud I thought I might have been clipped by the car going by, but I clearly wasn't... any ideas? It ran fine for the rest of the journey home...

Had you just put your handbrake on/off. I had one of the rear cables snap on my golf and it made a huge thud. Try driving along and pulling your handbrake on and see if both rears lock up

maybe a stone flicked up in the arch... they echo around the whole car.

i did it recently with a fircone, i even pulled over to see what the hell it could have been!

last time i heard that my CV joint had gone, all the roller pins went into gearbox, locked the gearbox up which juddered it and snapped the mount fuking the threads in the gearbox that it screws into which then burst the exhaust...

it's running fine... or appears to be... didn't have handbrake on. Had my foot on the brake and just pulled away... bloody temperamental French cars...
