Eeek! Panic! (Q re: charging a battery)

Just got to work (got a lift in) and realised that I've left my car battery on charge in the lounge at home  :banghead:

I only put it in the lounge to charge in the hope that it would hold more power than being stuck out in the cold garage...

Thing is you can hear it almost fizzing inside if you put your ear next to it - is that normal?

I just want someone to confirm that I'm not going to go home in 6 hours to find battery acid exploded all over the lounge  :S :dead: :(

You should really remove or loosen the plugs on the top as they gas but I don't think it will blow up. I have left batterys on charge for days and have never had a problem.
