Eibach Pro-kit or Sportlines?

  Datsun
I've looked through the many threads on here re the pros and cons of both and the time has come to order one or the other.

Most of my driving is in town and although I'm keen on the extra drop on the sportlines, I'm worried about how badly they affect the ride on the 182.

Quick straw poll required.. sportlines or be a big girl and get the pro-kit?

Sportlines are what i have and can't fault them one bit.

May help that i have 2 new rear shockers as well ;)

Have gone for the pro-kit.. cheers for your comments guys - Warren, your thoughts on both swung it tbh.

Getting them fitted next week along with a milltek cat-back.. woohoo! :D

Is there a huge difference in the amount the pros and sports lower the car?

Will pro's show much handling improvement on day to day driving?

Sports are lower, and the ride is busier. Pro's lower very slightly, but the ride is better and the handling is better. IMO, the standard 172 feels very wallowy floaty at high speed compared to a car on pro's.

Nice, that's exactly what I was trying to get rid of by buying the pros. Car just doesn't feel right above 80.

I'll post up what it's like after they're fitted.

If thats not enough to make you want sportlines then i dunno what will ;)

Oh how i miss that car..

i would say pro's on the RS personally as the lowering on the sportlines is only small - on a non RS sportlines every time.

Thank you!

So, its worth sacrificing the extra lowness (about 15mm extra from what I remember reading??) of the sportlines for the superior handling and ride the pros offer?

Everyone else agree to that too?

  A SHED!
sorry to topic nick but would the pro lower a 172 cup as theyre a tad lower standard than a ff 172? Thinking about a set of these myself in the future.

In a word no ^

+1

Handling of the Sportlines are better but i found it was a little crashy, wasnt a a problem until i drove other cars. The Pro's did seem less crashy but still firm enough.

i got pro's and they are too soft, so soft that i have them rubber caravan spring helpers to tide me by untill i decide on something better not happy with pro's one bit constantly on the bump stop, poor show

If you think pro's are too soft, springs aren't gonna do it for you.

I can't decide between getting sportlines or coilovers. I want it a bit lower. But have read a Cup'd FF182 won't lower much on sportlines?

Can't really afford coilovers though. Trying to save money.

Well the pro-kit got fitted on Friday. What a difference! Car feels much sharper and a lot more planted at speed.

Drop is noticeable, but not by much and the ride around town is actually better than before. Highly recommended.

Milltek's on now too... driving with the windows down ftw! :D

hiya

thinking of getting sportlines... will it be so low that it will grind on speed bumps or scrape the front bumpet on a kirb?

if so not interested. had my previous car lowered 60-80mm can't remember exactly.. and it used to knacker the exhaust on speed bumps and scratch the bumper when I tried to go up a kirb front onwards.. as I have to sometimes at work.

anyone with any experience care to comment?

thanks

also are they difficult / expensive to get fitted?

No, I don't think Sportlines actually drop the car a whole lot from what I can tell. Hence me not being able to decide between them and coilovers. I think they lower about 30mm, but not 100% on that. I've had the Pro's before on my 172, and they lowered it about 10mm on the front and 15mm on the rear.

ok sportlines purchased!

just didn't want a constantly blowing exhaust like on my escort. I bought it already lowered and have speed bumps down the road to my girlfriends place so as you can imagine, clang, clang, the noise was horrific. even at below 1mph, VERY SLOWLY CRAWLING, it used to hit it 3 times, and have to go back in to have the exhaust resealed.

in the end I ditched the magnex and got a scorpion, but this still scraped and caused problems just didn't blow as much.

I am so glad to have got rid of driving that car! lol

nightmare.

:)
