Eibach springs vs. E & R Coilovers

So how much better would the coilovers be compared to the springs on a 182 cup, the price difference is £600...........worth it?

Absolutely no competition mate. Get the coilovers.

Have just put sportlines on, regret wasting my money already, getting rid and getting coilovers as soon as.

Renault paid a lot more money developing the suspension stock are better or spend a lot IMO.

Poor steering feel, crashy bouncy ride, and hasnt lowered it much over stock at all, no where near the quoted 35mm, more like 15mm.

At the limit turn in is sharper, but the steering feel is terrible, so very hard to know where the limit is.

Havnt had the tracking done, so maybe some of this will change, but theyre really not the big thing i thought they'd be :(

Have driven a few mates cars with coilovers, and is so much better.

hmm, not really what i wanted to hear!!!! what car is yours 172/cup/182? maybe my name could be coming off the groupbuy list!!!

172 cup. You're not too far away from me if you wanted to try it mate.

Dunno, maybe they'll settle and improve. Am meeting up with john, and will compare our cups back to back wednesday i think (his has stock springs), so will let you know how that goes.

Quick piccy of the ride height. Seems to have dropped a little at the front, but not at the rear at all. My cars filthy btw.

Thats on sportlines. 35mm drop my ass. Anyways, its Dan mate.

Erm, would try come to the se meet, but am in reading, so right the other side of london. will see if i can make it though.

hmm maybe its a bit far then...1h 50m according to google ;)
cheers for the advice dan, i'l have a think...might post a thread asking for opinions! maybe apex might be the best option for lowering and cost (even though everyone hates them!)

peperami do you not find stripping it makes it noisier?

Or does this not bother you?

How much weight have you saved from doing it?

Thanks

Sam

You aint gone too mad really have you... prob accounts for the back looking that much higher in the pic thought, i really dunno about these springs now, all the other pics they sit lower

Sam- Erm, yes, lots noisier, and no, doesnt bother me, i kinda like it.
With the exhaust and decat, sounds lush :)

Feels lots different with the back out, handles differently too.

Phil- contemplating doing front carpets etc etc, still unsure though. Havnt bothered with side panels in the rear, as like having the stereo for the mo. If i decide to do it proper, will do stereo, carpets, door panels, speakers etc. Whats the law on using an ipod while driving?

How much weight has been saved, do you kmow?

The reason I ask is I have just taken the tools, spare wheel, and rear bench and back rests out of mine today. Sounds much noiser but not had a chance to check out the handling.

How does the handling compare on yours?

Thanks

Sam

Yep its definitely noisy!

Nice noisy though :D

Hehe, earplugs? (msn ;))

No idea sam, would like to weigh it though. Biggest thing was the front seats, the originals weigh a ton! Back feels lighter, so whips round corners after you. Can make it a bit tail happy though...

Oh, ok.

Lol, well its gonna be between 900 and a ton, so that wont help much :rasp:

Yeah but if its 900 its 940 or below as it round up from 950 onwards IIRC.

Back on topic though, I too am considering coilovers, will keep my eyes peeled in the parts for sale forum! lol.

Its only when you see a lowered clio next to your tractor that makes you want it a bit lower, although I'm not into the slammed look at all. I'd like an 1" 1/2- 2" gap round the wheel arches.
