Electric Folding Mirrors

  Cooper S
Anyone got them? If so were they worth the money?

I haven't got them but a mate is looking at buying a new car and is weighingup the options....

Can they be switched on and off or once you have them is that it? (until the French electrics corrode obviously)

Our new car has them fitted but won't know until the weekend if they are any good.

We have them fitted on 2 previous cars and never used them.

I think they are a bit of a gimmick tbh. At the end of the day they cost £200 or so, when you can just push the mirrors in yourself for free in about 30 secs.

Tend to agree, hence I never got them, more interested as to whether or not you can turn them on/off etc....

My mate had them on his car, sounded like a space ship starting up whenever he started the ignition!

I've got them, love them, they are only activated as and when you choose to fold them in or out.

There's a button you press

I was hoping that they would fold when you lock the car and unfold when you unlock it, but I don't know if that is an option.

^^^^

Ah right, I thought they would do it as and when you unlock/lock etc! Knowing Renault I bet it is a monster red button in the centre of the dash!

no, you have the dial just the same as you do for electric mirrors, turn to the left to adjust the left mirror, to the right for the right mirror adjustment, or with folding mirrors, to the bottom to fold them in.

  cock mobile.
I have them and use them ALL the time wherever I park.

Wish they were tied up to the start button, but I'm so use to doing it now, it's just like taking your seatbelt on / off.

Worth having if you parallel park on busy streets regularly, or have a really narroww drive/garage. Otherwise, don't bother.

yeah the mirrors folded out on the V6 is exactly the same as the width of the car.

worth having if you live in an area where you are likely to get your mirrors kicked off, unless you have the really dedicated Chavs that go to the trouble of folding the mirror out so they can kick it off (in which case you buggered) lol.
