Electric supercharger?

Car  ZT 1.8T
one of my mates just baught an old ford orion, basically he just wants to have abit of fun with it at destruction derbys and such. he wants to fit a turbo but that would mean alot of work and money and a mechanical supercharger working off the cam belt or something would still mean welding brackets, etc.. etc.. now me and him are quite new to this stuff but the thaught came from lookin at a leaf blower...y cant u fit something similar to the air intake of the car, do these exist aswell? fair enough it would be a drain on the battery but u could surely link it to a rocker switch and switch it on when u need it and let the ECU work out the air to fuel ratio, sorry to sound like a total plank just wondering cheers!

you can get these, but basicly they dont blow a enough :)... an air intake would create much more force when moving so i think :p

was thinking of a smart reply for this thread but thought id be helpfull instead hehe

the idea with electric superchargers is there, in theory they should work BUT they dont shift enough air, you would maby notice a slight difference but nothing that would make it worth doing at all.

why would you bother in a DD as theres no point in having loads of wheel spin if they actualy worked. As above they are available but dont work.

if your just gonna destroy the car in a destruction derby whats the point? spend the money adding big huge spikes to the car!
