emergency lights ( needed for work )

hi all, just a question that im trying to come to a conclusion with, i know not many will like the need of this installation or ' it'll look stupid '
but as my company is getting more work to do with electrical aspects on streets and minor highways, i'm in the need for emergancy orange light to be fitted to my dci.

so here's the idea, 2 or 4 orange flashing lights behind the top grill or bottom, 2 or 4 to be in the rear window and a light bar for the roof, preferably rack mounted.

one im not total confident on how to wire up and mount the lights, and seems as its going on my dci, i personally dont want it to look cheap and in your face!.

( cannot get insured on company vans becuase of my age, hence i will be using my car. boss has already agreed to pay for fuel costs and split the difference on insurance. great boss btw )

Would a simple single beacon on a suction cup not do? The ones that plug into the lighter, then that way you car stays your car and not the works vehicle

Most can be wired through a inline fuse / relay and to a switch in car

well i thought about it but my dad has the same as my idea on his 08 focus ( stealth lights ) and tbh im stuck what to do. can see the benifits of being able to remove them.

other than it being used for work, my girlfriend does own horses and i can see the lights being helpful in traveling to and from places behing the trailer. ( yes i a partly a saftey freak )

so i a fuse and a simple push button or rocker switch should do. perminant feed from battery i guess?.

apart from roof bar will be powered via 12v lighter socket... not drilling holes in my body work!

I would have thought a fuse then a relay to keep any wires from heating up and put under strain. Not quite sure how you would would wire it though you really need to know what lights your going to get to do the job first then what voltage they are and go from there.

Hmmm think I'm going for the 3 big sized led modules. They come in pairs with a controll box, powered by 12v lighter socket, but I will hard wire them in to most likely a rocker witch, with some sort of isolator. Where would that relay above go??

If that's the case you wouldn't need the relay just maybe an inline fuse in one of the live wires you'll hard wire in just make sure you get the right amp fuse won't be at all difficult to mount and wire in especially to a rocker switch in the dashboard or under the dashboard somewhere

okay cheers mate . I will go take some measurements later and see how I can stealth mount them without mega amounts of frustration . Got the feelin I'm going to be the only Clio like this..... And it's not going to go down well but for a laugh I will upload pictures when I've finished the dci and installed the lights

cheers mate will do. Possible Idea is to bolt a made up bracket to the slam panel or something similar.

Had another idea, would wiring up the fogs to flash aswell be a nice add on? Ie orange on fogs off, fogs on orange off in a pattern....

That might get a bit awkward to wire you would have to make little circuits to alternate between the 2 circuits I think you can get timing relays (like what run the indicators) but never worked with them mate

Ah screw that idea then. Just stick to the simple bits I guess. Flashing fogs might look abit to Chavy

Personal opinions really mate get the basics in place and working maybe then look at expanding to bigger bells and whistles
