doesnt look much like acid yellow to me, gotta be liquid.

so either the pics dont relate to the car or as usual, they have no idea what they are talking about and probably havent even driven it, just used the pics!

A pretty sh*t write up for an over rated car!
Finally someone who agrees with me! for 28k i can think of far better cars!

End of the day its still a renault!

  Forester Sti, SC Clio V6,

Different maybe - but in the market you can get a new one for 22-23k or a one year old for 17-18k.

See many other low volume, mid engined, sub six second, 150mph new cars around for that?

Maybe thats why Evo and other intelligent mags have got their head around the car - or do they generally overate the cars thay test?

I wonder who knows best - those that back to back it with the rest or those that dream of owning it and its competition (if there is any at £23k!)

Autoexpress attempts to be all things to all people. EVO is about drivers cars.

Personally I would rather take EVO opinions on the car, they form their opinions by driving the cars, have run both a MK1 and MK2 as long term test cars and are therefore more qualified to express an opinion.

The Autoexpress article seems just like all the other articles in these kinds of magazines; you will probably find they spent a few minutes complaining about the lack of rear seats! The closing comment however says it all...

"One things for sure, though...buyers will be getting a future classic."

Personally I dont think the same can be said of the admittedly technically more capable, easier to drive fast AWD competition at this price point - just how many Subarus and EVOs did you see this week?

No doubt we are about to enter into another 10 page discussion on "Why the v6 is crap, the owners are up their own arses and look what my mate bought for 28p and yet its so much better than the V"

They drove a Liquid Yellow car. It will be a sad day when it goes. Whatever your views on the V6 are, Renault had the balls to make it. Fiesta RS/new Focus RS anyone ?

Thats one thing Renault cant be accused of - not lacking in balls. I mean, the V6 was one thing, way back in the 80s they brought out the Espace, and most recently the big-ass Megane - although that is growing on me.

Will there ever be as mad a car made again by a large manufacturer? Yeah, you might expect something similar from a small, independent company. But from Vauxhall/Ford/Honda/Renault? Unlikely :(

I just LOVE the look of the V6 like no other car, but I just wish it had the seats in the back instead of that big lump of an engine.

Jeremy, do you think you could persuade Renault to make me a two litre Clio in liquid yellow, that looks like the V6 please?
I wouldnt really fancy getting V6 bits stuck on top of my own car, but I suppose that is how it would be done.

it is a classic. a testament to the cars image is that every time (sometimes two weeks apart) me and my GF drive past a place where a MK1 V6 lives, she always looks to see it, more than i do.. every time.. in fact if the driver was a good looking bloke then id be worried.

in my opinion id love to own one for the street kudos factor. who cares what the track factor is of a car ?? last track day i went to was fully of bald geeky midle aged men tweeking their elises really sad site..

but out in town in a Vee must be a real ego booster hehe much more so than a full blown STI or EVO or porsche for that matter.. you would have to have a supercar to beat it in terms of street appeal

If anyone is doing the RMA trackday at Donington on Saturday you could have a chance for some passenger laps in a fully track prepared v6...

Now if they would have the balls to build us a nice S1600 clone...with a 2.0 engine of course.

Yes it will be sad to see the V6 go. It is unique.

The V6 is a unique car in todays mundane mega-corp car market ... and I thank Renault for building it :D

Numerous cars are faster and tighter round the "twisties" ... for less than the cost of a V6. Heck buy yourself a small light cheap car and stick a charger or NOS on it if your want to go fast for pennies.

However, car buying isnt all about figures and formulas. No car Ive ever been able to afford has the road presence of a V6 or got the attention it draws; no car Ive ever wanted to spend my money on has had the performance of a V6; no car Ive ever owned has sounded so great and put such a big smile on my face every time I drive it.

Love it :D

ive still got my target date of next july-ish when ill be 21, mk1 mk2 i dont really care to be honest..i just have to own one!

Better than the sum of its parts, its how I would sum up the Vee. For a large volume car maker to actually get this sort of thing past concept is absolutely ridiculous in this day and age. Sure you could buy many other cars that will go faster, turn better etc but how many Vees do you see on the road compared to these other cars? Ive seen 6 or 7 in 2 years, for a car costing £20k second hand thats fantastic exclusivity, Ive seen more Ferraris on the road and judging by the looks the Vee was getting when I followed one for a couple of miles its got just as much road presence.

Remember we are pretty much talking about new Golf GTi or Mini Cooper S Works territory here financially. Just because it takes some effort to tame it people sl*g it off, dont know about anyone else but I would love one for a few years, taking my time getting used to every little nuance and limit of the car, surely thats what performance car driving is all about?

Clarkson was so impressed by the V6 he said it was one of his top 10 favourite cars. And hes driven everything out there.

I couldnt bring myself to pay £25k for one but a low miler for £18k? Definitely.

Lol. Isnt it this weeks autoexpress where they confirm that Ford has canned both these cars... so the best youll be able to buy will be the focus st...?

Its a shame all round, having had escort cosworths and now clio v6, it does seem that it is an end of an era at the mo. I doubt there will ever be another car close to the v6, and although ford regulalry promise a *true* cossie replacement, it has to be said they fail repeatedly to do so.

The focus rs (as-was) was never a true cosworth replacement, and the st certainly isnt. They promised a turbod "cosworth-esque" 300bhp+ version of both models, but again look likely to dissapoint.

Looks like its just over to the jap boys from now own to churn out their evobarus and skyicas which are fast, but about as run-of-the-meill as shopping at tescos.

i like them and no matter what will go down in history as a very unusual performance car. in 20 years time it will be like having a cossie

I could take a version of the same picture using our V6 and Renaultsport Spider (both a bit more hardcore than the ones in davebems picture though).

Just in case anybody is going to the RMA Donington day tomorrow - the v6 will be there and so will the Renaulsport Spider CUP car...
