Engine carpet stuff

The black carpet at the back of the engine, is it required? As mine has fallen apart and looks prety gash.

no, just rip it out. nearly everyone on here has done the same. its there for sound proofing but makes no difference when its taken out.

What about the little thin heatshield, theres a little bit that just flaps about and keeps flopping down on the manifold.

I'd always heatshield the brake pipes if you remove the rest
