Engine Change???

Hi all, i have a 1.2 clio..i have just put 17s on and i relized how much slower it has made it..lol..im goin all out on this car and its getin the works done to it! (ALL DIY) Body kit, smoothed all round etc etc. so wen its done it will luk the roll i hope, but wid a 1.2 it wont have the horses behind it...finking to change the engine to a 2.0 clio sport engine? what so you guys fink..?

n yes i shud hav jus started off buy 1 ino! lol..

Danlp6 - Could fit the 172 engine gearbox looms etc to your car he has a phase 1 setup which IMO is better than the phase 2 stuff anyway.

A 1.2 isn't ever going to be ideal with stock gearbox chnaging to lower ratio would help but a 172 conversion might work out better.

Hmmmm..well i was finkin to put a 172 or 182 engine init depending on which 1 i get my hands on 1st. i was hopin a phase 2 clio sport, as it mite fit stright in widout many complications.

Was finkin to change the gearbox as well as the brakes..

Has any 1 done this before? would like sum advise on all the things i need and the things i need to change.

Theres a few been done before now you need to make things simple to swop the whole mechnaic front and and the wiring looms and dash and swop it all for 172 gear. IE brakes supension front and rear gearbox dahabord engine looms wiring (UCH if your doing a phase 2)

You could just stick the engine in but you need the gearbox as well in which case the shafts have to be custom made to fit them and you'd have to wire it up the old ECU wouldn't be usable as its locked to the old UCH (not a problem in a phase1 though).

A phase 1 swops easier IMO all the stuff dan has for sale for £700 engine box looms etc, its a bargin.

You have the electric stearing rack so you have the choice to change to a 172 PAS hydrolic rack or make up a loom up so the system work.(if you do you have to adjust the AUX belt (although it depends what model car you using how to do this) and remove the PAS pump. If your using a car with aircon you need (assuming your not using it) to remove the pump again and reroute the AUX belt.

172/182 engine are much the same the exhaust manifold and exhaust system made the extra power a 182 exhaust manifold on a 172 is the same engine realy.
