engine 'chugging' issue

ok, in addition to my emissions light coming on, my car has started chugging randomly. was driving in 5th at arounf 2250rpm when it first happened. so i dropped down a gear then back up and it stopped. but it did it a couple more times at around the same speed. then, at a set of lights, the revs dropped to about 250rpm and it almost stalled.

are the problems related? i'll be dropping into renault on my way home, so im just looking for a heads up to the problem.

I'd say your coil pack needs replacing?
