Engine Code+Suffix F4R 738???

hey wot are ur engine code+ suffixes???

ive just read another thread on here, and most people are saying certain engines are usual/common 172/182 engines... mine is a 182... but my engine code+ suffix is F4R 738.... does this mean ive got a weird engine? lol

  Lionel Richie
172 cup is 736

the differences are the heads, everything else is identical

mk1 172 has the largest exhaust ports from memory

The 182's use the 738 code engines.

The have the worst head I belive there a tubro derivated one.

hehehe Fred gettin confuzzled :p ill letcha off m8 it was late hahahha

i wouldnt really know if the head affected my car that much tbh, coz havnt driven any 172's or anything else, so couldnt compare

phs1 172 - F4R 730
phs2 172 & cup - F4R 736
phs3 182 - F4R 738

All the same physicall engine bar cylinder head castings changed between phs1 172's and phs2 172's of about 2002-2003 where the larger exhuast ports of the phs1 172 were deleted and they moved over to the base turbo head casting...for costs obviously. The inlet ports are CNC'd the same still, but the exhaust ports, not matter what you do, will flow less on the latter versions as they are completely different design. Ex manifolds changed obviously, and engine management parameters such as climate control, dual lambda monitoring but thats about it.

Engines are all the same basically so you wont have a 'weird' engine.
