Engine Conversion

  Clio 182
Hi all,

Just wondering how much roughly and how long it would be to put a 1.6 engine in a 1.2 clio mkII phI?! im not that mechanical but i no its not as simple as just swopping engines and will take a fair bit of hours, but would it be cheaper just to buy a 1.6 clio?!

has anyone done this to their car?!

Cheers

Think your best bet is to go for the complete 1.6....can't be that much more on insurance.

Depends how good you are but from what you've said forget it just buy a 1.6 much easier and less hastle. It has been done but its not a simple job if you want more power get a 172 transplant for £1.5k+ vat from matt at Renault specialist breakers and that includes evertything brakes suspension etc.

  A number of clios
i'd just buy a 1.6 mate i have a mk 2 ph 1 1.6 rsi its only group 10 on insurance, my brother as just passed his test and the differance between a 1.2 and mine for him is about £200

Hi,

Cheers for the info guys! That is the only prob i have got, insurance! one big con! would help i have a clean licence no claims and a non modded car but hey! Think what i'll do is stick with me 1.2 atm until i get a years no claims, and some money! Then look around for a more powerful engine?!

Thanks again
