Engine Conversion

Hi all

I am new to this forum but not new to valvers I hope this is in the correct section.

I have just bought a clio 16v yesterday, the mods on it so far are stainless exhaust, induction kit and superchip (claim but no proof). I have just purchased a F7R engine to put in it. I will be using the car for track days and such, so my question is:

Do I do a F7R turbo conversion or is there a better alternative for what I intend to use the car for.

I quite fancy the challenge of a turbo conversion but the end outcome of performance suitability is more important.

Apparently if your running boost the 1.8 F7P is the engine to use, due to a shorter stroke.

Don't worry about the turbo conversion, its just gonna cause you problems. Just dump the F7R in there and strip it out.

Maybe ITB's is a better choice?

yeh throttle bodies... alot less hassle than turbo'ing it!

TBH a good F7R engine would be quick enough around track with the car stripped and a good brake/suspension set-up

im not a fan of boosted FWD cars for track use, prefer the progressive power delivery of N/A

I don't really have a budget, I'll be selling one of my M3s soon so I can spend what I want really. Although I don't want to pay someone to do the work for me, I'd rather but the kit/parts and do it myself.

the labour is the expensive part tbh and atleast if you've got another car you can take your time and do it over time, getting help from here when/if you need it.
