Engine Crane

I'm having real trouble with my engine crane.
it's one of these:

basically it works fine without a load on it. But with an engine on it, it will lift about 4 inches off the floor then gradually stop pumping. It's as if it's not drawing in any oil to pump through. It also builds quite a bit of air pressure behind the filler bung (half way up it) when used.
It's really holding my project up now. Anyone know what I can do? I've already changed the oil.
Who services these things?

Sounds like a lack of oil or a fcuked seal.
Is the bleed valve or whatever it's called sealing properly?
How long have you had it / used it much?

Same lift as mine, after a while mine leaks oil and does the same thing. Make sure you got plenty of hydraulic fluid in there.

I got it second hand sadly. I've just rung a place in northampton (pirtek) and they said they wouldnt know until they stripped it down.

I think your right though, it's probably a seal. It's definitely got the right amount of oil in it. It's seen a a fair amount of use just with me. I should probably be a bit more patient when pumping it i spose! I'm just going to have to take it to service tommorrow. I was hoping it was a common issue and someone might know exactly whats up.
