engine knocking

was driving my car yesterday decided to stop at my local shop came back out started my car and it was a terrible knocking noise.sounds normal at tickover but soon as i put even the slightest throttle it knocks badly,
i dont thrash my car i drive sensibly,the oil is fine and the water is fine.
any ideas guys

If its bottom end failure it's a new engine job.

if its knocking its tits off then it's probably to late, you won't know until the sump is off.

Unlikely. Usually the crank is shot.

Lets not jump to conclusions. Get a vid of the noise first before everyone decides the bearings have gone and you put an engine in.

Me either, and tbh a video will help but not really guarantee a correct diagnosis.

how much work isit to get the sumps off? my mate doin it tommorow he is a mechanic il leave the car with him.

It's not a 2 minute job. Engine has to be raised and supported from above, to gain enough Clearance with the subframe.

I've got a bottom end at the garage if your need one. Came out a car that blew a plug.

not sure what it is mate but it recently had a dephaser, my mate taking the sump off tonight to see whats going on.

it was fine before i turned engine off to go into the shop,came back out 5 mins later and started it up and it sounded like that, strange...

That sounds like big end failure. I'll be very surprised if it hasn't taken the crank with it.
