engine management light car chugging help help help

hi everyone went to pick my girlfriend up from work and noticed a little bit of hesitation when putting your foot down anyway it seemed ok but on my way back when starting to get up some hills the engine management light started flashing and the it really started to make a loud chugging noise and i lost all power it would only go to around 3k then it would be fine and the light would go off...what could this be i have the aa coming out to have a look shortly BUT i did clean my engine today with engine cleaner i was careful with the water rinse off but could this be it cheers

aa guy has just been and it needs to be hooked up to a computer...the engine light has gone of with the guys seems to think is a good thing in that maybe the computer just needs resetting from limp home mode does this sound about right? cheers

when you get certain problems , the computer will go in limp mode , as said might be a case of resetting it , then i'd go a for good run and take it from there

cheers mate aa are coming tomorrow to pick it up and take it down the only good thing as i said is that the engine does not come on now and the engine idals ok fingers crossed...how much are new coyle packs by the way?

you might just need to dry it out if that is actually the problem.

either coil pack/pencils or throttle position circuit

Could be your spark plugs mate, possible you might have got a bit of water in by your spark plugs?

The reason I say that coz this is what happened to my 182, i needed new plugs and leads which cured the problem. Check your spark plugs for corrosion.

well my car is nearly up to 6 years old now but i have not done the 72k maybe it will help not heard anything back from the garage yet but will let you know what has happened never cleaning my engine again he he

oh dear garage have called me the car needs need leads and spark plugs using genuine renault stuff including diagnosis stage it is going to cost me 225 all in!!! wooooppppsssss!!!!!! does this sound good value or not? cheers

bout right mate. leads are nearly 100 notes on their own!

cheers buddy they are an honest garage and with sprak plugs being 20 each and the leads he is not getting too much for fitting i also need a new manifold gasket as well
