Got back from holiday in tenerife last night, was driving about 80 mph all the way from manchest to hull none stop, full 70 - 80 mph all the way, got nearly to my house, about 10 mins away, then the engine management light and another light came on...

The one that looks like a heartbeat, in a box came on, and also the light at the bottom right ..

BOTH ARE HIGHLIGHTED

The car wouldnt go over 40 - 50 mph, even when putting foot down....

Turned it off and started it again and it was still the same, drove off and five mins later i turned it off again for about 10 secs....

The one in the middle a heartbeat thingy went away and all power was restored, but now the engine management light is still on ??

What caused this??

It some times has an issue now and again not starting first time...

Got it booked in for friday at a local garage...

Took it to renault and they said it could be alot of things, and wanted to charge 50 pound for a diag check ...

What can the problem be guys???

now the engine management light has gone out???

Its booked in on friday to a local garage, he said it could 'POSSIBLY' be the crank angle sensor, its quite common apparently he says... but time will tell, just wanted to see if anyone else has or had the same / similar problem

Ask somebody with an RSTuner to help you out and it will tell you the fault code. No guessing needed.

I had this very same prob about 6 months ago and it turned out to be the accelerator pedal sensor. £80 for new pedal unti....job done!!!

  R5 GTT EFI Clio.
I had this problem on the clio, There is a lamda sensor before and after the cat, and if it has given up (which they can do) and the ECU isnt getting the right readings, it dont know what mixture to give the car, so it puts the car in a mode called the "Limp Home Mode", and wont let you go over 40 normally. (So you cant really damage the engine, its just enough to get you home)
Get it plugged in that will tell you, although this was one of our problems, the actual problem was the headgaskit went inbetween the 2 middle pistons, this was a ngihtmare as the water and oil jacket mixed and pushed it all around the engine.
Does it stink of fuel when driving and does it tend to drink a lot more?

Same thing happened to me, took my car into renault. All it ended up being was a dirty throttle body. they just took it off, gave it a good clean and that was it. didnt even charge me for it.

Problem came back and it came up on screen the sensor in the pedal!

Gonna go get a new sensor on monday, will a aftermarket one do, or is it best to get a genuine Renault one??
