engine management light on after jump start

Basically the car battery died, we jumped it a few months ago but in the process the engine management light popped on.
It hasn't gone off or re-set itsself but the car is working fine now after fitting a new battery.

Any way i can get this light off? disconnecting the battery again for 24hrs?
I really dont want to have to goto renault and pay silly money to have the code re-set.

depends what the light's on for really. Will need plugging in to diagnostics of some sort, whatever you do
