Engine mount on a 16v

How do I know if one of these has/or is nearly gone?

Ive got a bit of a clunking noise at very slow speeds.

Could be, might be suspension top mounts/bearings.

Recently had coilovers, would that eliminate the top mounts?

If ball joint goes it can make this noise over bumps.

Its not just over bumps though. Just driving along in slow moving traffic its clonking.

To point out the obvious your engine will be moving about more than normal. Compare it to another Valver..

erm, theres def somthing going on, its not normal. ive had 2 valvers so im used to how they sound.

jack your car up and look for any signs of the engine knocking and check your bushes while yor under there. also check tht its not your downpipe knocking on the dogbone cause mine did that and it made knocking noise pissed me rite off.

just lift the bonnet & rev the engine.....youll soon see if its a mount gone

id say it was somthing other than an engine mount !

I have notice I have a knocking noise and I can feel it through my feet on mine now that I have got my new coil overs on, I was told it is the top drivers side engine mount. Would that be right?
