Engine Mountings??

Hello lads (and ladies),

Just a quick question re my Mk1 172:

Full bore gear changes are accompanied by a loud 'clunck' - could this be the engine mounts? :S

It's ok when driven anything but flat out, but is this a problem that's likely to get worse?

yes. the engine mounts are rubbish and yours are worn.

Could be the dogbone mount (one underneath, connects Gbox >subframe)
Having said that, people have replaced that and found that it's the top mount on the drivers side.
My recommendation would be a full set of the new Ktec mounts if you can afford it. If not, start with a dogbone. Be warned, people (not everyone) have had damage caused by the poly bush dogbone.

Thanks mate. How much are you talking for a full set of KTech mounts (+ fitting at a reasonable garage)?
