Engine Mounts

  Megane Trophy
A few people have diagnosed my juddering under hard acceleration off the line as loose engine mounts!

SO tell me everything i need to know about tightening them?

What ones, what bolts, torque settings? what do i need to remove to get to them?

Or how much if say BB tuning do it for me the 1st time then i can see what needs to be done and do it myself after that!

Cheers
Brad

If that is the fault, then you need new ones. There are four of them.

Try your top mounts on your struts, they may be knackered. It's cheaper and easier to do.

I've just done all my engine mounts, well Mike@Rentech did them, and it's still not right. Next thing for me is strut tops. Mine needed the engine mounts anyway, so it's not a problem it didn't fully fix the problem.

basically its fine for normal driving, just off the line when i once booted it it juddered as if traction control was cutting it really harsh?

is that right??

What price are the engine mounts to replace and i bet its a renault only job?

Mike did quoted me around £250, I had other work so you need to check but that was with parts, Renault will want twice that.

It's the same noise you are talking about.

there is a renault tech note out which refers to this 'juddering' as a problem with the drive shafts , ive got the same problem all new mounts still judders new top strut kits ren say the drive shafts on later 172's were improved and had better weigh distro they are thinner and carry a weight on them, thats next on my list now

okey dokey, im going to drop the car at bb tuning and see what they say!
Its fine driving though, although when putting into 1st or 2nd when stopped it feels like it clunks in rather than slots in??

so its the drive shafts and not the mounts then?

The later drive shafts from the MkII won't fit the MkI as the part numbers are different due to the different gearboxes on the two models.
