Engine mounts

How much do each of the standard engine mounts cost individually?
Tried searching but only found symptoms of possible engine mount failures.

Also where is the lower gearbox mount? I've located the other 3 and they seem to be in reasonable condition so I'm presuming the knocking noise I'm getting is due to the lower gearbox mount being worn.

Yeah hard acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear and it's more prominent in wet conditions. Definitely nothing to do with the strut tops hitting the bodywork as I've got the strut top washers fitted.

Lower gearbox mount is on the front of the box really. Attaches to the subframe.

Have you got the original dog bone mount, just check the position of your engine as sometimes its good to loosen the mounts and pull the engine towards you with a crowbar or get help from someone, and then re-tighten the mount nuts. Also have a look at your exhaust mounts!

That was done when it was down at Birchdown mate, it did cure it for a short period but the knocking sound is progressively getting louder.

Hmm sounds like I may be in need of some new mounts as well. 1st and 2nd I always get a knocking, although I know my exhaust mount is in need of repair as well.

It's a little hard to say really, it's definitely coming from the engine bay somewhere. Or do you need me to be a little more specific than that?

The knocking sound that you get, can you describe it? Mine seems to be a quick bang..bang..bang, again it's abit difficult to describe on here though. lol

Mmm I would take out the engine and upper gear box mount out fully, then you will see if they are splitting. Mine looked ok from looking at it but when I took it out it was fooked.

Suppose there's a good chance of this being the case as I've no idea when they were last changed. Any idea on prices for new ones?

It is rarely the lower gearbox mount. Normally one of the other three.

30 quid ish each for gearbox and dog bone mounts. 50 quid ish for upper engine one. See K-tec web site.

Think I'll be sticking to the standard mounts to be honest as I've read on here the uprated mounts that K-tec do cause alot of vibration while the car's idling.

Can the mounts actually split completely and cause the engine/gearbox to drop? or is it just me worrying about things that will never happen?

My driver's side mount split and the engine jumped up and out of the mount, lodging itself between the strut and the mount. Think my brother went too fast over a speedbump.

As for the knocking noise the best way I can describe it is one loud knock, don't think it really repeats itself. It could well be my exhaust tbh, but with the symptons being similar I guess it's the mounts.

Can do mate and I could do the same with mine and compare the noises each car makes. Might help diagnose what the issue might be.

Does yours occur during normal or spirited driving? During normal driving in mine you'd never know there was a problem.

Wouldn't that cause problems selecting 3rd gear and reverse though i.e crunching? Or isn't that always a symptom of a worn/damaged dogbone mount? Also the gear stick doesn't shake around when I'm driving spiritedly.
