Engine oil found when changing spark plugs?

  Mini JCW
As per title, when the plenum was removed, I noticed a non too small amount of engine oil on top of the cam cover. I cleaned this off as a matter of course to see if it was a recent leak or spilt oil from an oil change (optimistic I know), checked it today only 4 days after being cleaned up and there is more oil present:(.

From what i've read on here silicon sealent underneath the bolts securing the camcover on is reccomended as this can be a source of the oil? Any other suggestions?

Many thanks

Anthony

As you say fella just make sure you do them one at a time and torque them all down.

Mine were SWIMMING in oil. Danny @ GDI re sealed the top breather cover iirc.

drowned plugs FTL !!!

Loctite sealer is good stuff, just avoid blue/red hylomar/hermetite or anything similar, it's utter shite and deliberately doesn't set......like it's a good thing

I've loctite 5910 Premium black silicone high performance gasket maker/sealant, for flanges with permenant oil contact.

This stuff good?

I take it you jus put a blob on the end of each bolt and torque it upto the recommended torque in the renault workshop handbook?

that's the stuff

a very small amount under the head of each leaking bolt, and re-torque to 12Nm

Re-seal the oil separator/breather box too. Laingos had been POURING out straight into the sparkplug recesses

The recesses were about full up lol. It's a good job they're deep otherwise it'd have been all over the exhaust mani lol

French cars :(

Would this cause a slight missfire on tickover lads?

I've just changed the plugs because of the missfire and mine were SWIMMING in oil, thought it may have been a previous owner pouring oil over the edge by accident.

Still have that miss, any ideas? (sorry for the thread hijack if its unrelated)

could easily have caused it, but if it's still there it sounds unlikely. HT leads are normally quite reliable on the clio but they do fail, or cause a miss sometimes
