Engine smoking :( talk to me

  Ph2 172
As above..for the first 10 mins or so the engine is running - smoke comes from behind the coilpack area/above the manifold! Smells like burning oil and (funnily enough) there seems to be a lot of oil/gunk around that area..

Tried cleaning it out etc, but no joy! Could it be something to do with the bolt missing (see pic below) and so oil is somehow getting out and then burning..or am i barking up the wrong tree?!

Any thoughts appreciated!

I'd guess at oil is leaking from the breather hole under the inlet and is dripping down the back onto the manifold and burning off when you warm the car up.

Get another bolt in there to hold the manifold down properly so it seals on the oil seperator vapour outlet properly and it'll stop it. Preferably the right bolt too.

Ignore me i'm looking at the wrong hole all the bolts are in I think, there should be 7 off the top of my head. 5 at the front and two at the back either side of the coilpack. Might just be that the o-ring has split or something similar, get the upper inlet off for a clean up and look around see if you can see something.
